Enrollment for 2013-2014

Enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year for Calabasas Residents and Approved Inter-District Permits is under way.  New students to our district need to complete an Enrollment Packet.  Bring your completed packet along with the required documents to CHS between 9:00 and 11:00 am Monday through Friday.  Students do not need to be present for this.  Once enrollment is complete, a meeting will be scheduledfor you and your student to meet with their counselor to pick their classes.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Klein at (818) 222-7177 x 230 or [email protected]

Dear CHS Community,

Congratulations to our "West Side Story" cast, and crew. They were chosen to perform "Cool" at the Pantages Theatre, Sunday, 7 pm.

Important Schedule Information:
Monday - 1A/B Assembly Schedule. All seniors report to the Performing Arts Educational Center for Career Day Assembly;  9-11th graders attend regular Period 1.
Tuesday - Traditional schedule - 7:55 am start
Wednesday - Even block periods 2,4,6
Thursday - Odd block periods 1,3,5
Friday - No School Staff Development Day
Monday - No School Memorial Day

Wednesday, May 22nd in the Library CHS alumni and their parents will be talking about the college experience. Great Raffle prizes for attending seniors.

As we transition into the CCSS, I'm challenging myself to identify new resources, tools, or information. I've sent you an online resources for identifying text complexity. Please take some time to understand why this is important.

Dance Auditions

If you would like to try out for the 2013-2014 Dance II, please come to audition on the following dates:
Dance II Auditions
Workshop:  Weds, May 22nd from 3:30 - 7:00 pm
Try Outs:  Thurs, May 23rd from 3:30 to 8:30 pm

Naviance Senior Survey

The Class of 2013 Senior Survey is up on Naviance and the deadline to complete the survey has been extended to Tue, May 21st.All Seniors must complete the Senior Survey in order to receive their 4 FREE GRADUATION TICKETS. Anyone who has not completed the Survey by then will not receive free graduation tickets.  You may still buy graduation tickets for $16.00 each.  Both free and paid tickets will be handed out after Graduation Rehearsal on June 13th following the Senior Breakfast and Slideshow in the MPR at 8:30 am.  If you have not set up a Naviance account or do not know or remember your log-in information, please see Mrs. Lutsky in the College and Career Center.

Prom 2012 "A Night in the Moonlight"

This year's Prom will be at Malibu Arches on
S
aturday, June 1st from 7:00 - 11:00 pm.
The evening will include dinner and dancing.  Tickets prices are:
May 6th - 17th  $90 with ASB / $100 without ASB
May 20th - 24th  $100 with ASB / $110 without ASB
Students must present a school I.D. when purchasing tickets.  If you're bringing a non-CHS guest, a Guest Pass Application form must be completed and submitted for administrative approval before purchasing tickets. Students must attend school on Friday, May 31st and owe NO Library fines or discipline hours to be eligible to purchase a ticket to attend prom.  CHS DOES NOT RECOGNIZE OR ENDORSE ANY PROM AFTER-PARTIES.

Cap & Gown Pick Up

Attention Seniors:  On Weds., May 22nd during Nutrition and Lunch we will be handing out cap & gowns in Room PA6.  A photo ID is required to pick up your cap & gown.  Don't miss out as the year is almost over and you will need these things for graduation.

Got Into College...Now What?

GOT INTO COLLEGE.... NOW WHAT?
Tips For a Successful First Year of College.
Wed, May 22nd at 6:30 to 9:00 pm in the CHS Library/Media Center
CHS Alumni from local and out of state colleges and parents tell you what it is really like the first year of college. As well as, representatives from Bed Bath & Beyond, Chase Bank and the Sheriff’s Department to give you TIPS on  Class Selection, Dorm Living, Greek Life, Sports/Extracurricular Activities, Packing, Money, Safety and Transportation.  Ask questions that your college campus tour guides didn’t answer i.e Greek Life, Parent Communication, Making New Friends, Networking, Dorm Life, Home Sickness, Health Questions and more….  This presentation promises to provide students and their families with helpful advice and tips on how they can make their "First Year" transition into college a positive experience.  Raffles and Giveaways for Seniors that attend!

Murder Mystery Night

Come see this year's Murder Mystery Night "Yes, Mr. Mayor", Fri., May 24th and Sat., May 25th at 7:00 pm in the MPR.  Tickets include dinner, dessert, and a show.  $13 for students and $18 for adults.  Tickets can be purchased at the Student Store or at chstheater.com.  There will be tickets sold at the door on the night of the show - $15 for students / $20 for adults.  Hope to see you there!

Freshmen Class Night - Cosmic Bowling

Please come out and support the Freshmen Class on Fri, June 7th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at the AMF Bowling Alley in Woodland Hills for Cosmic Bowling.  You won't want to miss the fun!!!

Support and Tutoring Services

Support and tutoring services are available for all students every day of the week including Saturdays.  If your child  needs additional help, please encourage them to take advantage of these opportunities, as well as going to their teachers for help during Support on blocked Wednesday and Thursday. Parking Lot Information

The gates will now be locked at 3:30 pm Monday - Thursday and 2:20 pm on Fridays. All cars must be out of the temporary parking areas (the baseball field and the football field) as the gates will be locked until 6:30 am Monday - Friday. They will also stay locked on Saturday and Sunday.We appreciate you following these rules as we do not want you to have you get your car locked in.
