CHOICES is an intervention program for secondary students who have violated disciplinary guidelines regarding the use/possession of alcohol, drugs or drug paraphernalia. This program is designed to provide an alternative to lengthy suspensions and expulsions for a first offense. It serves LVUSD Schools and includes the following components:
A five-day suspension from school.
Mandatory participation in an 8 week drug intervention program.
Mandatory participation in 6 sessions of a 12 step program (concurrent with CHOICES).
Random, on demand drug testing during enrollment in the district. Mandatory participation of parent/guardian in program.
Students will be suspended from all extracurricular/co-curricular activities for 12 weeks. Students may return to their extracurricular/co-curricular activities after 12 weeks, providing all requirements of the CHOICES Program have been completed.
Upon recommendation of the Principal, ASB Officers/Commissioners may be removed from office for the remainder of the school year pursuant to the Code of Conduct Contract and rules and procedures governed by the ASB by-laws.
PERMIT STUDENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE CHOICES PROGRAM AND WILL HAVE THEIR PERMIT IMMEDIATELY REVOKED.
