Earth Day- Saturday April 3rd: Join the City of Calabasas Earth Day Celebration on April 3, 2010 at Las Virgenes Creek at Agoura Road and Las Virgenes Road (just behind the Starbucks) for a spring afternoon of fun and education. The Earth Day celebration will take place between 1:00p.m. and 5:00p.m. and feature exhibits, entertainment, learning booths, informational speakers and activities that focus on the environment. The Earth Day event will focus on energy conservation, sustainable living and eco-friendly products and services. Participating groups will line the Las Virgenes Creek Restoration Site with a variety of informational and interactive booths. For this event, volunteers are needed to help supervise children with a recycling drawing contest, to give out oak trees, and to face paint for kids. Anyone who volunteers will get community service. Kaiser Permanente Lear About Unlimited New Careers In Health Care (LAUNCH) Summer Youth Employment Program:
A PAID summer program for students from “underserved” families. Chosen applicants will work part-time from June 28, 2010 to August 20, 2010 at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills. They will be given the opportunity to learn about different careers available in the world of healthcare. Application deadline is Friday, April 30th and should be returned to the Volunteer Services Department of the WoodlandHillsMedicalCenter by the deadline.
