Q: I submitted the Absence Report Form already, why is Aeries still saying "unexcused"?
A: It takes up to 5 business days for Attendance to be cleared, please allow this amount of time to pass before following up on your absence submission.
Q: My student's absence is not cleared and they need to be able to turn in an assignment. What should we do?
A: Please have your student come to the Attendance Office and speak with Ms. Cara directly - she will happily make sure the absence is cleared if an Absence Report has already been completed.
Q: I don't have a Gmail account so how do I fill out the Google forms?
A: A Google email is not required to fill out our documentation - whatever email you use for your Aeries login will suffice.
Q: My student was NOT absent, how do I fix this error?
A: Please have your student email their teacher directly - even if the mistake was made by a substitute teacher. Please follow this link: Teacher Directory.
Q: How do I find how many absences my student has?
A: Please login to Aeries - all Attendance information will be provided in your parent portal.
Q: My student was out for a week, do I need to provide a doctor's note?
A: If a student is absent for 5 days and beyond, a doctor's note is required. Even if your student has a Chronic Illness and we have received the Chronic Illness documentation, a doctor's note is required to clear more than 4 days of being ill.
Q: Do I need to submit a Doctor's Note every time my student is sick?
A: Typically, no. However, if your student has had more than 14 illness absences for the year and a Chronic Illness Form has not been received - we will require a doctor's note for every illness absence. You will receive an email directly from CHS Attendance if this is the case.
Q: I forgot to clear my student's absence within 72 hours, can I still fill out the form to clear it?
A: The only way an old absence can be marked as excused is with a Doctor's Note.
Q: My student missed a class because of a CHS sport, do I need to fill out an Absence Report Form?
A: Our Athletics Secretary, Chris Martinez, will be clearing absences due to a CHS sporting event. If your student missed a class due to their CHS sport and it hasn't been cleared within 5 business days, please reach out to Chris Martinez (christophermartinez@lvusd.org) directly.
Q: My student is in a sport but the season is over, is attendance still required?
A: Yes, even if a sport is not in season your student will still need to attend their sport as it is considered a class in the off season.
